Daedalus turns a product idea into schematics, firmware, 3D-printable enclosures, a classified bill of materials and step-by-step order packages for the suppliers you already use. An independent red team checks every design before you buy a single part.

What is Daedalus?
Daedalus is an AI-assisted product design platform by Vectrus. You describe what you want to build; a design agent works out the requirements, calculations, electronics, firmware and enclosure with you. Deterministic tools verify every step, and a separate red-team agent looks for what is wrong, missing or unsafe. The result is a complete build package: design files, a classified bill of materials, ordering steps per supplier and a build guide.
Daedalus is made for makers, engineering firms and hardware start-ups — and for shops and distributors that want to offer “design your own product” to their customers.
How it works
Every step produces something you can open, check and keep. Nothing is ordered until you approve it.
Tell the agent what the product must do — and what it must not. It turns that into requirements you confirm.
Calculations, schematic and PCB in KiCad, firmware, display screens from Figma and a parametric 3D enclosure.
A separate agent with no shared context attacks the design: safety, compliance, failure modes, sourcing and buildability.
Every part gets an identity, a standard classification (ECLASS, ETIM), live offers and alternatives for single-source parts.
Upload-ready files and step-by-step ordering for each supplier. Link your accounts and approve orders with spending limits.
Step-by-step assembly with renders, wiring and checklists — also on your phone at the workbench.
Examples
Each example shows what Daedalus produced: the files, the red-team findings, the bill of materials and the order package. Open one and use it as a template.

Features
Works through requirements, calculations, schematics, firmware and CAD with you — and explains every choice.
Guide me and Improve buttons on every chapter.
A second agent with no shared context attacks the design before you order: safety, law, failure modes, sourcing.
Blockers stop the gate until fixed or accepted.
Every part gets an MPN, ECLASS/ETIM classification, live offers, lifecycle status and alternatives.
Owned parts and modules are first-class.
Upload-ready files and exact options for PCBWay, JLCPCB, Eurocircuits and distributors, with import and VAT notes.
Agent purchasing on your own accounts, with limits.
Paste a Figma link: frames become screens, components become widgets — for Nextion, LVGL, TFT or a web UI.
Flash, colour depth and touch targets checked.
Parametric enclosures in code, exported to STEP and STL, plus an assembly builder for catalog parts.
Fit and collision checks against the PCB.

FAQ
Devices whose custom parts can be made by online services — PCBs, assembled boards, 3D prints, CNC and sheet metal — plus off-the-shelf modules and parts. Installations in a house, like ventilation or watering, are supported with a building model.
Concept, requirements and first previews are free. A full design uses credits: 1 for a simple device, 3 for a complex device and 5 for an installation. Paid plans start at € 16 per month.
You do. Vectrus only processes your designs to run the service. You can export everything in open formats — KiCad, STEP, STL, Gerber and CSV — at any time.
Only if you link your own supplier account and approve each order. Otherwise you get upload-ready files and step-by-step instructions per supplier.
Every step is verified by deterministic tools such as ERC and DRC, and an independent red-team agent reviews the design before you order. Steps that need a certified professional are flagged.
No. The agent creates the files for you. If you do know KiCad, Fusion or FreeCAD, you can open and edit everything.
PCB and assembly services such as PCBWay, JLCPCB and Eurocircuits, and distributors such as DigiKey, Mouser, LCSC and TME. Every project gets a procurement guide, whatever the supplier.
Yes. Partners embed Daedalus with their own branding and assortment, so designs end up as carts in their shop.
Describe it. Daedalus does the rest — and checks its own work.
